Futureballers

Futureballers comprises basketball training sessions tailored for children at the Red Cross Center for Asylum Seekers in Cadro

These children, along with their families, have already been granted permission to stay in Switzerland and reside at the center for 6-18 months before obtaining their apartment in the Ticino region. Training sessions take place every Wednesday afternoon in the inner courtyard of the center using portable basketball hoops.

The mission of Futurballers is to promote integration.

We teach the fundamentals of basketball to these children so that they can join a local sports club. Joining a basketball team fosters friendships and instills the healthy values of sports.

By attending practices and games, their parents have the opportunity to get to know other children's parents and integrate into society.

The first results

Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers, the first result was not been long in coming:

Amir and Mohammad, former residents of the Center and participants in the project, joined the Basket Club Arbedo at the end of 2022. Amir was selected for the Ticino team, and in April 2023, he played in the Swiss finals of the selections.

We wish to express our deep gratitude to AIL for the generous support provided to our Futureballers project.

Your donation has made it possible to offer an extraordinary opportunity to young individuals in migrant centers in Ticino, encouraging them to engage in the world of sports through basketball.

Thanks to your generosity, we have ensured access to qualified coaches who guide the young participants toward significant personal and athletic growth.

Your commitment to the community and the promotion of youth well-being is a shining example of corporate social responsibility.
